My Presentations Out There…

Just back from Greece. I read that a lot of things can happen in 10 days, at least, the list on Eddie’s aggregator orana.info is long.

I saw that there is an alternative way to submit some presentations to Oracle Open World this year, so I also made an attempt.

Two new presentations will hopefully see the light this year: a fun (informative) one to demonstrate cool and fast ways to create GUI’s / websites / to be interactive “out of the box” with XMLDB and a second one with more serious content about how to maintain your XMLDB environment. I submitted them also for UKOUG to see what happens (my idea is that XMLDB has not yet “caught on”, although the local APEX environment makes heavily use of the Protocol Server functionality of XMLDB).

So if you think it sounds cool or interesting or you just want to support me in my crusade to turn people to the XMLDB dark side, do me a favor and have a vote on Oracle Mix. 😉

During my stay in Greece I installed Ubuntu 8.04 for my nephew. It’s speed is lighting fast, but I will post that and my first experiences with the new version in a different post.

In short: installed it as dual boot option beside Windows Vista Home Edition and it went like a breeze. Also the repartitioning was no big deal at all. The only fight I had was the standard one: fighting against “OEM Vista wizards” that know it all, and make decisions that I didn’t want.

😎

Ubuntu 8.04 Rocks !

Ubuntu … that’s what I’ve done a couple of times recently too, inspired by Howard’s blog posting on the subject. I must say it was a far better PC installation experience than I’ve ever had with Linux.
