Oracle XMLDB Sample Code

This week Mark Drake, Senior Product Manager Oracle XMLDB, put up a new page on Oracle OTN with some great code examples and utilities demonstrating Oracle XMLDB functionality. Among others, the latest code for Mark’s XFILES XMLDB demo application version 5, Introduction to Oracle XML DB Repository Events, Basic Introduction to Oracle XML DB 11.2.0.3.0, Managing XML Schema Changes with Oracle XML DB, XQuery Update Facility code examples, Oracle XML DB Sax Loader Utility and many others. In total 12 new things to learn from or just have a go with it. Check it out!

Be aware that “Unless explicitly identified as such, the sample code here is not certified or supported by Oracle; it is intended for educational or testing purposes only.” So no guarantees/support if not mentioned otherwise but if you have any questions about the code or examples then you can ask them here on the Oracle OTN XMLDB Forum.

Another great source to watch and learn (or do it yourself via the OTN Oracle Developer Days Virtualbox environments) is the “Oracle Technology Network Virtual Developer Day: Database Track”. You can find the learning environment via the link below. The only thing needed is a OTN account so you are able to login.

  • Oracle Technology Network Virtual Developer Day: Database!

After completing the registration process it should take you to the main page for the online Seminar. From there they click on the Breakout sessions ICON, and then the Database Track. From their you can scroll to the bottom and play the pre-recorded seminar or view the slides.

Would you help me installing the sample code libary? I always get “Error in the script file in the … row” when I’m trying to run any of the hta file.

Grant your install database account for installation purposes (the SYSTEM account?) temporarily the SYSDBA privilege. There is an OTN thread especially for the XFiles demo app questions. See the Oracle OTN XMLDB FAQ and other URL’s short links on the main page of the forum.
