Somehow missed the announcement that the Oracle Development team refreshed (9/26/2014) the VirtualBox Oracle Database 12c environment. I should have expected this happening of course after Oracle OpenWorld had a lot of Hands-on Lab’s which were based on the new Oracle 12.1.0.2 database environment.
So now you are able to test the Database In-Memory option or JSON functionality with minimal environment setup, that is by downloading the VirtualBox environment, double click the ova file associated via VirtualBox and start using the new Virtual Machine environment, after it has started up.
