I will be attending HOTSOS 2007 next week; and to be honest, I am not really into it yet. Despite, I guess and hope the great presentations, keynotes and insights that will be given during the week; working hours were harsh and long last month. Trying to uphold (most of the time, self appointed) goals and targets for customers and internal projects, I over did it (a little bit). So while writing this down, I am trying to cool down so it will bring me into the proper (nerd) spirit, where events like the HOTSOS event next week, will give me nice, exhausting, interesting, inspired, insightful days; Long, long, long days, full of great information and discussion.

I got up at 5 o’clock (CET) in the morning on Saturday and made my way to Schiphol airport, so Gerwin and I could take our plane to Dallas, Texas. After 8, 9 hours, we arrived at Bush International in Houston, Texas.
Due to the new customs regulations and only 1 hour interval between flights, we missed the next Continental Airlines Expressjet flight to Love airport Dallas, but all went well and we were able to get the next flight to Dallas at 4 pm. From Dallas “Love” airport we got a taxi to the very nice Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas, were the Hotsos event, the following days, will be held.
During OPP 2007, two presentations by Ken Atkins where given regarding XML(DB) items, featues and best practices. My collegae Alex Nuijten was also attending, and presenting, and hinted me regarding Ken’s presentation whitepapers.
Ken’s presentation handsouts can be found here:
